In an interview from 2015, Guillermo was asked about the project while promoting the Peak of Crimson. Guillermo del Toro spoke to Heytuguys who told them that he really used the source material that was “strange in a disturbing way” compared to Disney films.
“We brought back some of the charm of the book fairy”. He also spoke a bit that it would touch history when the book was written specifically politically era.

Guillermo del Toro has worked on many Netflix projects in the past and continues to work on new ones in the future as part of extensive output transactions with Netflix. The next project after Pinnochio is expected to be 10 after midnight.
