President Aimim and MP Hyderabad Asaduddi Owafisi said at Lok Sabha on Friday that he refused the security of the ‘Z’ category given to him by the Ministry of Indonesia (MHA). MHA has sanctioned security cover to Mr. Owaisi a day after two men fired bullets in the vehicle near Chejarsi Toll Plaza in Hapur District Uttar on Thursday night.
The Uttar Pradesh police arrested two defendants – Sachin Sharma and Shubham. According to his social media account, Sharma is a BJP member. On his Facebook profile, Sharma described himself as “Dishbhak Sachin Hindu (Hindu Patriotic)”, with his photos with BJP leaders such as members of Lok Sabha from Gautam Buddh Nagar, Mahesh Sharma and U.P. Deputy Chairperson of the Minister of Dinesh Sharma.
Mr. Mahesh Sharma, however, distanced himself from charges and told reporters that BJP opposed all types of violence, added that Sachin Sharma was not a party member.
“Being a public representative anyone can be photographed. Strict action must be made to him; I don’t know him,” Sharma said.
Deepak Bhuker, police supervisor, Hapur said the defendant had opened fire on Mr. Convoys. Owaisa because they were suspected of ‘injured’ with ‘anti-Hindu’ statements.
A police officer said Sharma was a resident of Badalpur in Dadri, near Delhi and Shubham was a resident of Saharanpur. The duo uses a gun without permission to attack Mr. Owaisi when he returns to Delhi after the election campaign in Meerut. A car has also recovered.
The case of murder attempts has been registered against them and they have been sent to the trial detention on Friday.
Speaking at Lok Sabha, the leader of all India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) rejected the security cover of the ‘Z’ category which was expanded to him by the government.
He asked the government to reflect why young people had been radicated and referred to recent hatred speeches made against him in Dharam Sansad in Haridwar.
“I begged you to stop this hatred. I don’t want the security of the Z category. I want to be a citizen a-category, it is equivalent to you Mr. Owaici, added, “I want to live, talk. My life will be safe when poor people are safe. I will not be afraid of those who shot my car.”
Minister of Trade Piyush Goyal said the Interior Minister Amit Shah would make a statement at Lok Sabha on Monday about this issue and notify that the state government had caught the culprit and weapons and vehicles used in the attack had been confiscated.
An official of MHA said that after the attack on Thursday with the security of the Z category by Central Reserve Police forces (CRPF) was approved.
“The CRPF was assigned to take over his security, around 20-22 Commandos who were trained will give it a direct security at the time,” the official said.
The official added, “The CRPF team will approach Mr. Owaisa and if he refuses the cover of security, he must give it in writing. MHA will then evaluate the situation based on the application.”
