With Covid restrictions that subside at a higher educational institution, Delhi University might see finally opening his campus to his students for the physical class.
After the DDMA meeting on Friday, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that all higher education institutions, colleges, itis, polytechnic institutes and skills would be directed to only do offline classes from next week. This means that the campuses managed by the Delhi government such as Ambedkar University, Delhi University University, universities under Gobind Singh Indraprastha teachers will be opened for physical classes for all their students.
Most importantly, the Ministry of Education official said the institute’s requirements to maintain 50% of the class or laboratory capacity at certain times will be carried out. So far, DU officials have quoted 50% of DDMA requirements as the main reason for it does not continue the theoretical class offline since the pandemic.
Du Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh told Indian Express that the university would examine the possibility of reopening with this change. “We will check the guidelines and if possible reopening without any condition, we will definitely do it. Because we have students from all over the country, if we find that we can reopen, we want to give them a notification period – maybe 7, 10 or 15 Day, “he said, adding that the university would look back at the physical class for students throughout the year.
So far, university repairs are limited to access libraries and to laboratories for practices for students in recent years, while all theoretical classes have been held online in all pandemics.
AUD Pro Anshu Kumar said that while the university was still awaiting DDMA’s orders, they had begun to prepare for the campus to be reopened. “We need to see the command to know exactly what is expected of us but regardless of it, we have started cleaning the campus to reopen and we will comply with the guidelines and directions issued by the government,” he said.
