The Karnataka government has announced that all universities are closed due to protests for the hijab problem will be reopened from February 16.
Education Minister Karnataka BC Nagesh announced that from February 16, all pre-university (PU) colleges will be reopened.
Minister BC Nagesh said, “The decision to reopen universities has been taken at a meeting with the minister’s chairman, Minister of Home Affairs, and education. The minister’s chairman has instructed the authorities to make the security settings needed before the university reopened.”
Previously, the government decided to continue the classroom for secondary school students to grade 10 of February 14 after the high court proposal to open educational institutions without allowing students to wear religious clothing.
The High Court, in the interim order awaiting consideration of all petitions relating to the hijab row, previously asked the state government to reopen the educational institution and hold all students to wear a turmeric scarf, scarves, headscarves and any religious flag in the classroom.
Meanwhile, the government is likely to introduce SOPs on the use of headscarves based on high court proposals. According to sources, new guidelines will let students come in hijab and burqa into school and then turn out to be uniform.
Some students were asked to remove the headscarf by the school authority that stood outside the school gate. A collection of new guidelines is intended to prevent the incident.
