The Indian smartphone market was hit in the final quarter of March this year due to leading vendors suffering from supply chain problems, report words.Vendors sent 38 million smartphones in India in the final quarter of March, up only 2% from the same time in the previous year, the Canalys research company estimated.
“It’s not a good start for this year for markets like India, which has seen a two-digit percentage growth even during a pandemic,” said Sanyam Chaurasia, analyst at Canalys. While most of the world market fights against the third wave of Covid-19 in Q1, the relatively weaker impact on India should help him return to growth quickly. “Xiaomi remains above with 8 million shipping. Samsung, Realme, Vivo and Oppo are other players in the top five.
Oil prices in India are at high inflation records and wholesalers remain high at 14.6% in March 2022.The biggest challenge to be faced by vendors in 2022 is to maintain the affordability of the device. Volatility in foreign exchange rates and higher operational costs because inflation will provide further pressure on vendors to maintain profitability, according to Canalys.
Global smartphone delivery also suffers because the business environment is not calm.Canalys estimated that shipping fell 11% in the final quarter of March compared to the same time in the previous year.Spike in the case of Covid-19 because of the omicron variant, uncertainty because of the Russian-Ukrainian war, Kuncian China and the threat of inflation caused slow demand, the company said.
